In 2005, Holy Cross transitioned to a new form of governance. The change was made to enable better coordination of the overwhelming amount of ministry that is happening and will be able to happen in the future. The major change in the new form of governance is a shift to a more staff driven structure. And while the staff is “doing the heavy lifting” to coordinate all the ministries, we are still going to need all God’s people volunteering to make ministry happen. Some have gotten the perception that a “staff driven” ministry means that volunteers aren’t needed anymore, when, in fact, more volunteers are needed than ever before! The new structure allows for even more ministry opportunities and, therefore, more of us are needed to make it all happen.
To volunteer or to learn more about a particular Action Group or area of ministry, you need only contact the staff person responsible for the respective Ministry Team, or Click on any of the Links above. The respective staff person will see to it that you get connected in the area that best employs your spiritual gifts.
And here’s the neat part about this new structure. If you see an area of ministry that you wish to be involved in and it’s not yet on the list, you may simply mention something to the respective staff person. That’s all it takes.
The possibilities for ministry here at Holy Cross are literally limitless. All of us are busy and have difficulty squeezing more into our schedules, but if everyone serves in some small capacity, then no one needs to be overwhelmed with too much to do. We are reminded by Paul in 1 Corinthians 12, “Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.”
His point is that all of us have some talent or ability we can share to help further the work of the church. Find an area that seems of interest to you and give it a “TestDrive”. God will bless our life when we serve Him.
